College Fantasy Football Sleepers: Week 2 Values Outside the Top 50

Sleepers in college fantasy football are rarely unknown players. They are players whose matchup is better than their draft cost. Every name below sits outside the top 50 of our season-long rankings board, yet each one carries an A- or better Week 2 matchup grade in the CFF Central projection model.

How we pick sleepers: we cross-reference three model outputs — projected points, the floor/ceiling band, and the matchup grade derived from opponent defensive rank. A player is a sleeper when the matchup grade is at least a full tier better than the player's season-long ranking implies.

Running backs with the widest gap

Ahmad Hardy (RB, Missouri) is the headline value: an A+ matchup against a defense ranked 118th, 20.9 projected points, a 14.3 floor and a 33.8 ceiling. That floor is the important number — it means Hardy is startable even if the game script turns.

L.J. Phillips Jr. (RB, Iowa) draws the 114th-ranked defense with an A+ grade and a 30.0 ceiling at 18.7 projected.

Jeremiah Cobb (RB, Auburn) faces the 121st-ranked defense, an A+ grade, 18.3 projected with a 29.7 ceiling.

Cam Edwards (RB, Michigan State) grades out at A against the 107th defense: 19.4 projected, 13.1 floor.

Rueben Owens II (RB, Texas A&M) is the cheapest of the group with a B+ grade, 18.8 projected and a 29.0 ceiling.

Wide receivers to stream

TJ Moore (WR, Clemson) has the best receiver matchup on the slate outside the top 50: an A+ grade against the 127th defense, 19.9 projected, 32.6 ceiling.

Danny Scudero (WR, Colorado) and Jordan Dwyer (WR, TCU) both project near 19.5 points with A grades and ceilings above 30.

Lotzeir Brooks (WR, Alabama) and Chase Hendricks (WR, California) round out the group at 19.0 and 18.5 projected points with A matchup grades.

Quarterback and tight end

Drew Mestemaker (QB, Oklahoma State) is the sleeper quarterback: an A grade against the 107th defense, 20.0 projected, 31.7 ceiling — starter-level output at a bench price.

Benjamin Brahmer (TE, Penn State) is the tight end play, 18.5 projected with an A grade, which is top-five tight end territory in a week where the position is thin.
