Waivers decide more college fantasy leagues than drafts do. Depth charts move every week, transfer-portal arrivals settle into roles, and injuries hand full workloads to players nobody drafted. A short weekly routine beats scattered guessing.
The routine
- Tuesday morning: read the projection changes page and note every player whose ceiling moved up week over week.
- Check the waiver wire board for startable players ranked outside the overall top 50.
- Filter by matchup grade — a mid-tier player facing a weak defense outscores a better player in a hostile road spot.
- Drop kickers and third-string depth before dropping anyone with a path to volume.
- Set claims early; most league defaults process before Wednesday.
What makes a good claim
The best claims are role changes, not one-week outbursts. A receiver who ran a full route share after an injury is worth more than a receiver who caught a single long touchdown. Look for players whose projected points rose alongside their opportunity, which is the pairing our weekly refresh is built to surface.
Automate the boring part
Premium members get the waiver-target digest by email each week, plus floor and ceiling ranges, full matchup grades and the complete board rather than the free top 50. If you would rather spend your Tuesday making decisions than gathering data, that is what it is for.
